Air Liquide and Total Energy jointly build more than 100 hydrogen refueling stations

Recently, Air Liquide and Total Energy announced that they will form a joint venture to develop a network of hydrogen refueling stations on major European roads to refuel heavy trucks. This move will improve the convenience of hydrogen refueling, expand the application of hydrogen in cargo transportation, and further promote the development of hydrogen energy transportation.

 

According to reports, the two parties are committed to deploying more than 100 hydrogen refueling stations on major roads in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany in the next few years. These sites are part of the Total Energy brand. Under this agreement, Air Liquide and Total Energy will form a joint venture in the field of hydrogenation solutions to help decarbonize road transport in Europe. The parties will combine know-how and expertise in infrastructure, hydrogen distribution and transportation. Among them, Air Liquide will provide professional technology and management capabilities in the entire hydrogen value chain; Total Energy will provide its expertise in site network operation management and energy distribution to customers. At the same time, the joint venture, jointly managed by Air Liquide and Total Energy, will invest in, build and operate these hydrogen refueling stations, purchase hydrogen from the market, and supply it to transportation customers.

 

Matthieu Giard, Vice President and Member of the Executive Committee of Air Liquide, said: "Hydrogen has obvious benefits for heavy-duty traffic. In order to promote the widespread use of hydrogen, accelerate the development of hydrogen refueling facilities and provide vehicle manufacturers and transporters with sufficiently intensive hydrogen refueling. A network of stations is essential. This is the ambition of this joint venture, which will also benefit from the complementary expertise of Air Liquide and Total Energy.”
