BASF's first enterprise energy storage power station in China was put into operation

ECHEMI 2023-01-17

Recently, BASF announced that its first enterprise energy storage project in China was officially launched at BASF's headquarters in Greater China.

This new intelligent energy storage power station is located in BASF Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Innovation Park, and is jointly built by BASF and China Three Gorges Group Co., Ltd. The energy storage power station adopts lithium iron phosphate energy storage technology, which can store renewable energy power with a total capacity of 12MWh in a single cycle, providing a strong guarantee for the sustainable supply of green power in Pudong Base. The energy storage power station includes 4 sets of battery energy storage systems and 1 set of AC/DC conversion system, which can optimize the energy structure, realize the "peak shifting and storage" and "peak shifting and valley filling" of renewable energy power, and improve the comprehensive utilization efficiency.

BASF is promoting the use of renewable energy in major production bases in Greater China. As one of the first batch of BASF production bases to participate in the domestic green power trade, BASF Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Innovation Park has successively built self-used distributed solar photovoltaic power stations in recent years, with a cumulative installed capacity of more than 3MWh, and is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2595 tons per year.
