foodmate 2023-01-18

According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), on January 13, 2023, the US FDA issued a recall notice saying that Utopia Foods Inc is expanding the recall of enoki mushrooms imported from China because the product is suspected of being affected by Listeria Contaminate. The recalled products are shown below:

The recalled products weigh 200g and have a shelf life until March 2, 2023 or March 9, 2023.

Between January 6 and January 13, 2023, the recalled enoki mushrooms were distributed to manufacturing and wholesale companies in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

It is known that young children, the frail or elderly, and immunocompromised people are susceptible to Listeria infection. Infection occurs with short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, but listeria infection can lead to miscarriage and stillbirth.

There are currently no reports of illness related to the recalled product, and sales of this product have been suspended. The U.S. FDA advises consumers who have purchased the products affected by the recall not to consume them and can return the products for a full refund.
