PPG, The Home Depot Expand Partnership with Launch of OLYMPIC Stain Products
PPG’s OLMYPIC brand stains will be available at Home Depot’s nearly 2,000 U.S. locations, PPG said.
This partnership combines the woodcare performance of Olympic stains with the largest retailer of exterior stains.
Stain products, including Olympic MAXIMUM, Olympic ELITE and Olympic WATERGUARD will become available at most Home Depot locations by the end of 2018’s second quarter.
In addition, PPG’s latest innovation, Olympic SmartGuard will soon be available at select U.S. Home Depot stores in time for the spring season. A first-of-its-kind product in North America, Olympic SmartGuard aims to take the hassle out of weekend projects with a super-concentrated formula in a lightweight, easy-to-handle pouch package. Drying in as little as one hour after application, as compared to 24-48 hours for traditional products, it provides a durable, super water-resistant seal. Unlike traditional stain products, there is no brushing required – easy spray-on application allows homeowners to spend less time applying and more time enjoying their outdoor living space.
“We’re extremely pleased to expand the breadth of our product line with Olympic stains by PPG to give our customers even more selection, innovation and value,” said Jose Barra, SVP – Merchandising, Décor for The Home Depot.
“Olympic has been America’s most trusted stain brand since 1938 and is rated among the top stains by a leading independent consumer rankings magazine,” said Dave Cole, PPG VP, architectural coatings, U.S. and Canada.
In addition to Olympic SmartGuard, the Olympic product line that will be available at The Home Depot includes:
Olympic Maximum Stain + Sealant in One with WEATHER-READY application that enables homeowners to stain when they want to, even if the weather isn’t perfect. The product is rain-ready 8-12 hours after application, 12-16 hours faster than typical stain products, so homeowners no longer have to be concerned their completed project will be harmed by unpredictable weather. In addition to its rain-ready features, Olympic Maximum stain’s unique formula offers a wide range of application temperatures, from 35° F to 90° F, and can also be applied to damp wood; Olympic ELITE Advanced Stain + Sealant in One: a super-premium exterior stain line offering a palette of wood- and nature-inspired hues. Developed for durability and incorporating Olympic Stains’ highest levels of protection against the damaging effects of sunlight, water, mildew and algae on the coating, Olympic ELITE is for the homeowner who appreciates the beauty of wood and is willing to invest a bit more to enhance and protect with beautiful and more durable color; Olympic WaterGuard: penetrating, advanced multi-surface sealant that protects against water damage and creates a mildew-resistant coating. The clear multi-surface waterproofer is formulated to be applied on a variety of substrates, including concrete, brick, stucco and wood. Olympic WaterGuard is available in a clear wood sealer, and in a selection of ready-mix colors in transparent and semi-transparent opacities. The addition of Olympic stain products expands the PPG product lineup at The Home Depot stores including PPG premium paints, GLIDDEN paints and LIQUID NAILS adhesives.
