BASF to expand synthetic ester base oil production capacity at Jinshan site

2020-10-15

On October 12, BASF announced plans to increase production capacity of synthetic ester base oils at its Jinshan site in Shanghai, China, to nearly double capacity. The production ramp-up is expected to be fully completed by the second half of 2022.

BASF said the investment is aimed at meeting the growing demand for high performance lubricants in the Asia Pacific region, as well as further strengthening BASF's market position, providing customers with a stable source of supply and supporting the development of its business in the region.

Synthetic ester base stocks are key ingredients in high-performance lubricant formulations and offer a number of sustainability benefits. Applications include environmentally friendly refrigeration and air conditioning systems, automotive and industrial lubricants.
