Evonik integrates methionine production resources

Recently, Evonik announced the integration of MetAMINO (DL-methionine) production resources and concentrated its production in three international production centers (the Americas, Europe and Asia) in order to maximize the use of powerful production processes to achieve economies of scale. Through this measure, Evonik can increase capacity utilization, achieve economies of scale, and enhance its ability to adapt to various market situations, thereby enhancing its cost advantage and playing an important role in the sustainable supply of animal protein, food safety and animal welfare. .

Evonik said that Evonik’s three major MetAMINO production centers are operating in a cost-leading, technologically superior mode, and have the ability to further expand production capacity. Currently, the three major production centers have good economic effects and have favorable conditions for future growth. Following this strategy, Evonik will close the smallest MetAMINO plant in Wesseling, Germany in the first quarter of 2021. The plant has an annual production capacity of 65,000 tons. In addition, Evonik plans to invest 25 million euros to upgrade its Wesseling Methionine Intermediate Plant to ensure the long-term supply of the Antwerp plant and enhance the integrated production capacity of MetAMINO in Europe.

In addition to the Antwerp plant, Evonik also has MetAMINO production bases in Singapore and Mobile, Alabama.
