Eurofragance Launches Proprietary Fragrance Ingredient Olivante
Eurofragance will soon launch its fourth proprietary fragrance ingredient at the Beautyworld Middle East trade show. The Spanish fragrance house's latest exclusive raw material brings a luxurious touch to fragrance compositions.
Olivante targets not only the Middle Eastern market but also complements classic Western fragrance compositions. Eurofragance Perfumers, who have been working with this innovative, proprietary ingredient, report that its inclusion enhances fruity notes, enhances gourmand notes, and intensifies certain white floral notes.
"In recent years, we have seen a growing acceptance of Middle Eastern fragrances among Western consumers," said Belén Garcia, Eurofragance's Master Perfumer, who formulated the ingredient. "The rich leather and oud notes have gained recognition beyond the Gulf. Olivante® is a multifaceted fragrance, and some of its olfactory qualities are now appreciated by consumers around the world."
In developing its fourth proprietary raw material, Eurofragance adhered to its sustainable development philosophy. The company collaborated with partners in the olive oil industry to process the pomace, after the oil has been extracted from the olives, into a variety of by-products.
Felipe San Juan, Ingredient and Flavor Performance R&D Manager at Eurofragance, and Magdalena Rey, Technical Perfumer, spent months traversing the Spanish countryside, searching for olive varieties with the right concentrations of the desired volatiles and precursors.
"Olivante® isn't made from just any random olive pulp," said San Juan. "The terroir and climate of this specific region in Spain were key to this project. We applied our scientific expertise to characterize and isolate the key aroma molecules needed to develop the ideal, proprietary ingredient."
