TDI Stolen from GNFC's Export Consignment
Several HDPE drums containing toluene diisocyanate (TDI) manufactured by Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company (GNFC) and valued at Rs. 1.22-crore were found missing in March. The theft was carried out from four containers shipped to Jeddah, Oman, Mombasa and Brazil. Customers found the drums missing and complained to GNFC officials. An official complaint was lodged at Dahej police station in this connection on May 19.
According to reports the containers were sealed and shipped via Hazira port to different countries in March. Primary investigations have found that the theft was possibly conducted by two drivers of a transport company that carried these containers to the port in possible collusion with some chemical traders.
