According to market sources, Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) is expanding its OTR capacity at the plant in Gujarat, India.

Besides the introduction of giant OTR tires, the capacity expansion projects of BKT includes the completion of a carbon black plant with a capacity of 60kt/a.

“ The target of BKT is to achieve a 10% share of the global OTR market by 2025, and to meet our targets for 2025, we need some expansion.” BKT joint Managing Director Rajiv Poddar said. “The plant in Gujarat has been designed to allow us to reach three times the capacity of OTR steel tires of what it is today”

Due to significant investment in the new tire building machinery, BKT plans to launch 51 inch and 57 inch tires in Q2, 2019 and Q2, 2020 respectively, in order to complete the giant tire segment.

BKT is committed to expanding its product range of giant tires at Bhuj plant. In 2010, BKT established a new plant at Gujarat in western India, and the new plant launched its first all-steel radial tire in 2016.

According to the report of China Rubber Industry Association on June 8, the Alliance Tyre Group is considering the construction of a fourth plant to meet its growing demand.
