Arkema announced the acquisition of German adhesive maker Polytec PT
On May 19, Arkema, a specialty chemicals producer based in Paris, France, announced the acquisition of Polytec PT, a German company focused on the production of thermal interface materials for batteries and engineering adhesives. Following the acquisition, Arkema will expand its Bostik gel offering to meet the rapidly growing needs of the battery and electronics markets. The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2023.
Polytec PT is a Germany-based company focused on developing thermal interface materials for batteries and engineering adhesives for the electronics market; The company has annual sales of about 15 million euros and its main production site is located in Carlsbad, Germany. With extensive expertise in the field of thermal interface materials, Polytec PT has established a solid position in this market. The acquisition will also complement Bostik's engineered adhesives portfolio.
Based on Arkema's global network, the project is expected to generate a turnover of around 50 million euros in these high-value applications over the next five years.
The acquisition has created an opportunity for the Bostik and Polytec PT teams to collaborate on new solutions. By working closely to accelerate solution development, the two companies will become important players in the thermal interface materials and electronics markets.
