On May 31st, 2023, BP announced on Monday that it had completed the first phase of its offshore small pool drilling operation in Trinidad and Tobago.
The project began in October 2022 and includes three wells in Mango Oilfield, one well in Savonette Oilfield, and three wells in Angelin Oilfield.
The successful discovery of three wells in Mango has been put into production, with a daily production of approximately 5.1 million cubic meters (1.8 million cubic feet), and the production of the third well is still increasing.
The scope of the small pools project involves existing wells near BP's existing infrastructure and side tracks in undeveloped areas.
The drilling operation was completed by Joe Douglas self elevating drilling platform, which is currently starting drilling operations for the next well on the Savonette platform.
David Campbell, the President of BP Trinidad and Tobago, said: “The successful completion of the Mango oil well is good news for both BPTT and Trinidad and Tobago.”
“This indicates that we will continue to be committed to developing resources in the existing shallow water areas of the Columbus Basin.”
