FMC launches Premio Star(Chlorantraniliprole+ Bifenthrin) for Brazilian citrus

FMC recently launched Premio Star insecticide (Chlorantraniliprole+ Bifenthrin)  at Expocitros 2023, the largest citrus expo in Latin America. The new insecticide is the only one on the market that can simultaneously control major citrus pests, such as the Diaphorina citri and Ecdytolopha aurantiana.

Premio Star has the characteristics of dual action mode, wide spectrum, good residual effect, rain resistance and easy operation. In addition to citrus, Premio Star also controls major pests in soybeans and corn, such as caterpillars and bedbugs. The product also provides protection against 50 biological targets in more than 50 crops. Premio Star works through exposure and ingestion of crops by pests and can be used on cotton, peanuts, rice, coffee beans, citrus, wheat, vegetables, beans and sugar cane, among others. The application can be in the air or in the field, and the product is currently available.

"Premio Star will be used by farmers to control Noctulodes, cotton bollworms, soybean inchworms and bedbugs," FMC said. This unprecedented technology was developed for Brazil and has undergone an optimization phase to obtain the best synergies in the product. The precise combination of active ingredients is extremely effective against both chewing and stinging insects."

22.37% of fruit trees in Brazil's citrus growing belt (the world's largest citrus growing belt) in 2021 have pests and diseases, an increase of 7.2% from 2020. According to data from the Fundecitrus annual survey, the incidence of the disease in the region increased by 24.42 percent, or 9.16 percent, in 2022. Grandeza also introduced the insecticide Benevia (Cyancyanamide), which achieved 100% control over nymphs and over 90% control over adults in initial trials.
