Canada Initiates Special Review of Aluminum Ethylphosphonate and Its Use in Agriculture
Health Canada recently issued a consultation document, PSRD2023-02, announcing the Pest Management Regulatory Agency's (PMRA) special review of Fosetyl-aluminum and its end-use products. Aluminum ethylphosphonate, a fungicide used in various agricultural products, including greenhouse and field-grown vegetables, fruits, ornamental plants, and non-residential turf, is the subject of the review.

The review specifically addresses the decision to continue allowing the current uses of ethyl aluminum while updating risk mitigation measures to minimize potential exposure to amphibians. Stakeholders and the public are invited to provide comments on the proposed decision during the public comment period, which runs from November 14, 2023, to December 29, 2023.
