Meiji introduces new chocolate, using oligofructose instead of granulated sugar
Japanese confectionery brand Meiji launched Oligosmart chocolate on Feb. 16. This chocolate replaces the conventional granulated sugar in chocolate with oligofructose to help consumers control sugar even when consuming chocolate.
Oligofructose is a kind of water-soluble dietary fiber made from sucrose, converted, refined and concentrated by modern engineering technology - fructosyltransferase, which is recognized as "indigestible" by international nutritionists.
In addition to chocolate, there are nine other products that use oligofructose instead of sugar, and all of them are currently on sale.
