The pesticides registration of mango, a characteristic small crop, showed that the number of Prochloraz was the highest, followed by Pyraclostrobin and Kasugamycin

2023-12-14

Mango is one of the most profitable fruit varieties in China. In recent years, the planting area continues to expand, the output value continues to grow, and the mango industry has become a pillar industry in many places in China, becoming an important starting point to help rural revitalization and achieve poverty alleviation and prosperity.

There are many kinds of diseases and pests in mango. It is understood that there are as many as 200 kinds of mango pests and diseases found in China, and there are 1-2 important diseases and pests in each growth period, causing serious yield loss of 20-35%, and more than 35% in severe disaster years. Individual pests and diseases may destroy the garden, reduce the appearance of mango commodity quality, some pests and diseases can cause fruit deterioration, if skin spots, rough, fruit deformity, etc., affect the appearance quality.

A total of 121 pesticide products are currently registered on mangoes (trees/gardens), including 91 single dose and 30 mixed dose products. The categories of registered pesticides are mainly fungicides, and there is only 1 herbicide product.

14 formulations are involved in the 121 pesticide products. The number of SC registered was the largest, with 35. Next was EC, with 19. There are 13 SLX, 12 AS, 12 ME, and 10 WP. The registered number of other formulations is less than 10.

Prochloraz was the most registered active ingredient (22), followed by Pyraclostrobin (13), Kasugamycin (13) and Gibberellin (12), and the other active ingredients were less than 10. Another 29 active ingredients were registered with only one.

From the point of view of the control objects, the number of registered pesticides of mango (tree/garden) for the control of anthrax accounted for almost half of the total, and was the main target object. Followed by growth regulation drugs (24), there were 15 products for the prevention and control of bacterial keratosis, and a small number of other control objects were registered.

At present, only one herbicide (Glufosinate ammonium) was registered in mango (tree/garden). There are few insecticides and no insecticides to control the insect pests such as Chlumetia transversa, ErosomyiamangiferaeFelte, (Deporaus marginatus Pascoe and Rhytidodera bowringiiWhite. There are no products in the fungicides for the prevention and treatment of Botryodiplodia theobromae Pat, scab, gray blight, bleeding disease, resin disease, sooty mold and other diseases; It is suggested that pesticide companies can develop new products or extend the registration of existing products to Mango. In addition, in view of the short storage time of mango, interested enterprises can also consider developing mango preservation and anti-corrosion agents.
