2023 Annual Review: BASF's Innovative Products and Initiatives in the Agrochemical Field
In 2023, agricultural operators will face unprecedented challenges such as difficulty in weed control and drought stress. As a leader in innovation, BASF actively proposes agricultural solutions and continuously launches new products and innovative initiatives to address the above problems.
From the launch of 11 new soybean seed varieties to the introduction of new product solutions and cutting-edge technologies, innovation is the driving force of BASF's progress, and the company has invested heavily in agricultural product research and development. “Agriculture is vulnerable to uncertainty, and BASF is committed to delivering impactful solutions to support farmers,” said Scott Kay, Vice President of U.S. Agricultural Solutions at BASF. “2023 is a strong year for innovation, We look forward to launching additional solutions in 2024 to further expand our product portfolio."
The following are BASF's agrochemical innovation products and initiatives in 2023:
— Announcing the launch of Surtain™ Herbicide, the first solid capsule premix solution on the market, pending registration, that provides superior weed control.
— Introducing Revylok™ soybean fungicide solutions that provide long-lasting treatment and preventive control against a broad disease spectrum and expanded disease pressure.
— Introducing Liberty® ULTRA herbicide, the first trait-enabled, resolved isomer herbicide for broad-spectrum weed control.
— Launched Poncho® Votivo® precision seed treatment products to help soybean growers prevent damage from a variety of insects and nematodes.
— Introducing new seed variety sowing technology xarvio® SeedSelect as part of xarvio Field MANAGER, providing standardized variety selection and field placement to increase yields.
— Introducing Flo Rite® Pro 02 plantable polymer, which uses advanced polymer technology to maximize single site, seed spacing and plant populations to help increase yields.
— Announcement of Registration of Beyond® Xtra Herbicide, it is the first and only imazamic herbicide approved for use in Clearfield® production systems and conventional crops such as dry beans and alfalfa.
Other highlights:
— The Stoneville® Legacy Club™, an organization that celebrates the productive achievements of cotton growers, has reached a record enrollment of 179 members, 34 of whom have harvests in the top 10% of their states.
— The new global brand "ONE SMART SPRAY" of Bosch BASF SMART Farming, a joint venture between Bosch and BASF in digital agriculture, was unveiled to market and sell smart agricultural technologies globally.
— Axant™ Flex herbicide-tolerant technology and Axant Flex TwinLink® Plus insect control technology receive final trait approval to support growing Axant Flex cotton varieties and provide growers with additional weed control options.
— BASF's e3® Sustainable Cotton Program hosted a roundtable discussion on sustainable cotton production at the United Nations Headquarters, with farmers from around the world participating.
— Extended the Grower Financing Program through 2024, offering loans at 1.99% APR to all participating growers with BASF products through March 15, 2024.
— Hosting the FiberMax® One Ton Club™ event, where growers producing one ton or more of FiberMax cotton can join the club and be eligible for awards such as a two-year lease on a Ford® Super Duty® F-350 Lariat® truck.
