China NMPA Conducts Unannounced Inspection of Japanese Cosmetics Giant Hoyu

It was learned on the 28th that the National Medical Products Administration of China had conducted unannounced inspections of the factory of Japanese hair dye and other cosmetics company Hoyu in Aichi Prefecture, pointed out problems and suspended the import of goods. Although unannounced inspections are conducted online, it is rare for Chinese authorities to directly investigate Japanese factories across the border.

NMPA announced on November 16 that Hoyu's products are suspected of violating laws related to production management. The production process of black hair cream was accused of not meeting the technical requirements.

According to relevant sources, after coordinating the schedule with the company, NMP confirmed the production process of its factory in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture online. The investigation requires cooperation from the company but is not compulsory.

NMPA pointed out that Hoyu had problems such as the production process of black hair cream being different from the content of the information submitted to China, and asked the company to take measures. Hoyu said in an interview: "Corresponding measures will be taken in accordance with the guidance of relevant departments."
