Altana Acquires Pigment Maker Silberline
Recently, global specialty chemicals group Altana announced the acquisition of Silberline, a US company specializing in the development and manufacturing of effect pigments for a variety of applications, from automotive coatings and printing inks to plastics, protective coatings and consumer packaged goods.
Altana said that with this move, the company is strategically expanding its pigment manufacturing company Eckart and strengthening its regional business, especially in North America and Asia. Altana CEO Martin Babilas said: "This acquisition is further evidence that we are continuing to make targeted acquisitions and implement our strategy of creating value and growth."
Christian Przybyla, President of Eckart, added: "The local R&D and production capabilities of Silberline and Eckart complement each other perfectly. This merger will enhance our ability to respond flexibly to regional customer needs and further optimize the quality of our services."
Silberline CEO Gary Karnish said: "The acquisition of Silberline by Eckart creates new potential. Together we can drive even more deeply the development of sustainable product innovation to the benefit of both customers and employees."
Silberline is headquartered in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, and currently has more than 450 employees worldwide. In 2022, the company achieved sales of approximately US$80 million.
Completion of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and the parties agree not to disclose the purchase price.
