AMVAC launched a new Glufosinate ammonium product ZALO, mixed with Quizalofop-p-ethyl

2024-02-26

Recently, AMVAC announced the launch of a new herbicide, ZALO (active ingredient: 24.6% Glufosinate ammonium +2.4% Quizalofop-p-ethyl), which can effectively control broadleaf and grass weeds in crops such as soybeans, cotton and canola. ZALO is expected to be available in spring 2024, providing growers with a more efficient weed management solution.

ZALO combines the active ingredients Glufosinate ammonium and Quizalofop-p-ethyl to take weed control to a level that offers effective control of broadleaf weeds and annual and perennial herbs, including Enlist cultivated corn, giant foxtail, Panicum dichotomiflorum and shattercane (a summer annual grass weed). And perennial grasses such as Sorghum halepense and Agropyrum repens Beauvois.

In addition, ZALO uses ProLease technology to prevent the degradation or separation of the active molecules in the herbicide in the sprayer, thereby improving the activity and stability of the herbicide.

ZALO is currently approved for use in the early to middle stages of emergence of Glufosinate ammonium-resistant crops such as soybeans, cotton and canola, as well as fruit trees such as pears and stone fruits. The herbicide is used in a similar amount as Glufosinate ammonium 280 and provides both active ingredients to enhance weed control. ZALO increased weed control by 9% compared to Liberty 280 SL herbicide; Compared with the general grass Glufosinate ammonium, ZALO performs better in grasses and broad-leaved weed control.

ZALO is aimed at the following types of growers:

  • Glufosinate ammonium users looking for an easier and more effective weed solution. ZALO provides a broader spectrum and more efficient control effect than Glufosinate ammonium alone;

  • Users of fop (Aryloxy phenoxy propionate herbicides) or dim (Cyclohexenone herbicides) mixtures. ZALO reduces mixing operations and improves the stability of the spray solution

  • Look for growers who can alternate Enlist or XtendFlex crops with auxin herbicides for resistance management;

  • Growers looking for alternatives to Dicamba.
