Arkema signs green energy supply agreement for US factories
Arkema has signed long-term renewable energy contracts for its U.S. plants in Calvert City, Ky., Beaumont, Texas, Chatham, Va., and West Chester, Pa., as well as all Bostik plants in the U.S. The company said the agreements are part of its climate plan.
After signing agreements with energy providers Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Entergy and 3Degrees, Arkema expects to obtain approximately 40% of the electricity needed to operate its U.S. operations through renewable energy sources by 2024. Arkema said this was an important milestone in the group’s decarbonization ambitions to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 48.5% by 2030 compared to 2019 levels.
TVA and Entergy are expected to provide approximately 35 GWh/year and 60 GWh/year of solar power to Calvert City and Beaumont, respectively. 3Degrees expects to provide Green Electronics certified renewable electricity certificates to decarbonize approximately 57 GWh of electricity per year at the Chatham and West Chester sites, as well as all Bostik facilities in the United States.
Arkema has previously signed other renewable energy supply agreements for its facilities in Clear Lake and Bayport, Texas.
