British freighter attacked in Red Sea waters! 22,000 tons of fertilizer maybe buried at sea

A British cargo ship was severely damaged in a missile attack by Yemen's Houthi armed forces in the Red Sea on February 18. Recently, Yemen's Ministry of Water and Environment held a press conference to warn that the cargo ship is in danger of sinking or running into rocks, and once the fertilizer is leaked, it will have a serious impact on the local Marine environment.

The freighter, the Rubimar, was badly damaged after the February 18 attack, forcing the crew to abandon ship and being rescued by another merchant ship. The crew was then safely transferred to the nearby port of Djibouti.

The ship was badly damaged by a Houthi missile attack in Yemen and is slowly leaking water. According to the assessment, the ship is likely to sink.

Yemen's Ministry of Water and Environment said the ship was drifting towards the Hanish Islands and was at risk of sinking or hitting rocks. The cargo ship was carrying about 22,000 tons of fertilizer and a large amount of fuel for the voyage. If the ship sinks or hits the rocks, it will cause fertilizer and fuel oil leakage, which may have a serious impact on the local Marine environment. In addition, the ship is currently only 16 nautical miles from land, and will also threaten the nearby coastal ecology.

The Yemeni government has set up an emergency crisis response team.
