Osthole was registered for the first time to control locusts in China
On May 21, the Chinese company's 0.5% Osthole EW product was approved for registration in China, and the newly registered crops/sites and control targets were grassland locusts. It is recommended to use 120 ~ 140ml dose per mu, add 45 ~ 60kg of water, and evenly spray once in the first blooming period of locust nymps of 2-3 ages.
This is the first time that Osthole has been registered for locust control in China, and it is also the second pesticide product approved for locust control in China since 2024. The original registered crops and control objects of the product are cruciferous vegetable leaf cabbage worm.
Osthole is a kind of substance with both bactericidal and insecticidal activities extracted from fructus cnidii. Its main mechanism of antibacterial action is to affect the growth of fungal cell wall, resulting in a large number of mycelia breaks, and inhibit the growth of bacterial mycelia. The main mechanism of insecticidal action is to act on the nervous system of insect pests, resulting in non-functional contraction of insect muscles, and eventually collapse and death.
Previously, there were a total of 16 types (categories) of Osthole in China's registered crops/places, including wheat, paddy, cruciferous vegetables (including kale), cucumber, tomato, pepper, zucchini, cowpea, grape, strawberry, goji berry, tea tree, flowers, peony, Notoginseng, and warehouse raw grain.
GB 2763 does not stipulate the maximum residue limit standard of Osthole in Chinese food.
