Salmonella Detected in Brazilian Exported Frozen Poultry Meat Products

ECHEMI 2024-06-14

On June 14, 2024, according to a notification from the European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), Germany reported through the system on June 12, 2024 that Salmonella was detected in frozen poultry meat products exported from Brazil. Given that the products had not yet been placed on the market, the German government has taken confiscation measures to prevent potential risk from spreading.

This incident is an import alert case involving food safety. As a common pathogenic bacteria, Salmonella can cause serious food poisoning if consumed by humans, posing a potential threat to public health. This event has exposed the need for further strengthening of hygiene and safety management in Brazil's food exports to ensure the quality and safety of exported products meet international standards.

Food Partner Network hereby solemnly reminds all exporting enterprises to strictly comply with the laws, regulations and relevant requirements of importing countries such as the EU, and ensure the compliance of the export process. Particular attention should be paid to the detection and control of various pathogenic bacteria in products, to truly ensure product safety and reduce export risks. Meanwhile, the relevant departments also need to strengthen the supervision of the safety status of exported foods, improve the risk prevention and control mechanism, and maintain the good image of the country's food exports. Only through the close cooperation and joint efforts of upstream and downstream enterprises and regulatory authorities can such food safety incidents be effectively prevented and contained.
