LyondellBasell Expands Polypropylene Compounding Production in China
LyondellBasell (LYB) recently announced the launch of an additional production line at its Advanced Polymer Solutions (APS) business in Dalian, further expanding its presence in China.
The new line will produce a variety of high-performance, high-quality polypropylene compounds, primarily for the automotive industry. As the second line in Dalian, the new line has an annual capacity of 20,000 tons and will double the plant's current capacity, enhancing the company's ability to meet growing market demand.
Torkel Rhenman, Executive Vice President of LyondellBasell Advanced Polymer Solutions, said: "The global automotive industry is experiencing rapid growth and transformation, especially in the field of new energy vehicles, and China has become a key player in this market. With the support of our professional team, APS has refocused on value creation and speed to market, and with the comprehensive product portfolio and additional capabilities of innovative products, APS is well-positioned to stand out in this dynamic market."
Rolf van Beeck, Vice President of LyondellBasell Advanced Polymer Solutions Asia Pacific and Vice President of AfMEI, said: "The launch of the new production line marks another milestone in our continued commitment to the Chinese market. We see great opportunities to accelerate the growth of our business in China and we will continue to invest in this market. We will continue to provide customers with best-in-class products and services while promoting circularity through collaboration and our Circulen product portfolio."
Brian Jiang, Manufacturing Director of LyondellBasell Advanced Polymer Solutions Asia Pacific, said: "The new production line marks the progress of the Dalian plant in increasing capacity and automation, which will help long-term scalability. I believe the investment in this new production line will also inspire our colleagues to actively invest in the operation of two production lines to meet the growing needs of local customers with faster response speed."
