Sto breaks ground on manufacturing facility in Mexico, helping the region grow

ECHEMI 2024-06-27

Sto Corp., a leader in cladding, air barriers, coatings and repair systems, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Moncipio de Dalina, Victoria, Nuevo León. The new facility is located outside of Monterrey, Mexico, and is scheduled to be completed in June 2025.

The facility will initially serve Mexico and South Texas exclusively, areas previously served by facilities in Arizona and Atlanta. The facility will then expand operations to accommodate production of StoCast, a realistic wood and brick exterior aesthetic that can be used in a variety of Sto wall systems, ceilings and soffits.

The project will hire approximately 25 employees, covering management and operations positions.

The industrial building, located on a 108,000-square-foot lot near Highway 35, will feature Sto finishes and integrate environmentally friendly elements, including a rainwater collection system. The system will not only promote sustainability, but also track the collected rainwater for metrics assessment. Additionally, for communities that rely on imported water, rainwater harvesting can relieve pressure on local water sources, thereby reducing the need for imported water and helping utilities manage peak demand during the summer months.

"Sto's investment in Mexico marks an important step forward for our manufacturing operations," said Jose Berlingeri, CEO of Sto Corp. "This new plant not only strengthens Sto's foothold in the region, but also demonstrates our commitment to providing innovative solutions while adopting sustainable practices that benefit our business and the communities we serve."

Indominus, SA DE CV is the developer of the project and is responsible for construction, while NewMark is overseeing project management.

"North America is a very important region for Sto from a strategic perspective. Therefore, we are very happy to strengthen our presence in Mexico with a production plant," said Rainer Hüttenberger, CEO of Sto Management SE.
