DuPont Acquires Donatelle Plastics
DuPont has signed an agreement to acquire Donatelle Plastics, a U.S. contract manufacturer of medical devices. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2024, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
"Our healthcare strategy is focused on providing a complete suite of solutions to customers in high-growth therapeutic areas," said Jon Kemp, president of DuPont Electronics & Industrial (E&I). "Donatelle Plastics Incorporated will be our second acquisition, following last year's acquisition of Spectrum, which will deepen our expertise in the medical device market segment and strengthen our position as a partner of choice for our customers."
DuPont's healthcare business in the Industrial Solutions business line of the Electrical & Industrial segment includes Spectrum, a company that produces specialty plastics for medical device components, and Liveo, a company that provides silicone solutions for healthcare applications. The acquisition of Donatelle Plastics will bring complementary advanced technologies and capabilities, including medical device injection molding, liquid silicone rubber processing, precision machining, device assembly and tooling.
According to DuPont, Donatelle Plastics has strong financial growth prospects aligned with attractive therapeutic areas such as electrophysiology, drug delivery, diagnostics, cardiac rhythm management, neurostimulation and orthopedics.
Founded in 1967 and headquartered in New Brighton, Minnesota, Donatelle Plastics has more than 400 employees and operates a facility strategically located in the heart of medical technology, close to leading original equipment manufacturers.
