Syngenta launches Isocycloseram and Cyantraniliprole insecticides in Argentina

2024-04-30

Syngenta recently revealed that it has obtained registration in Argentina for two new insecticides designed to control corn leafhoppers.

One such innovative product, called Verdavis, uses the PLINAZOLIN technology (Isocycloseram) and is sprayed through the leaf surface. The product also contains the active ingredient Beta-cyfluthrin, which acts in a unique way, and is equipped with a "resistance destroyer" to overcome resistance challenges and control the most stubborn pests.

Syngenta said that Verdavis can effectively control the corn leafhopper from egg, nymphs to adult stages, completely disrupting their survival cycle. The product has long-term and durable properties in the leaf surface, does not cause plant toxicity, and has strong resistance to ultraviolet light and rain erosion, thus extending the control cycle, improving the convenience of use and crop productivity protection. This product is recommended to be applied in time when leaf hopper adults are first found in corn stage V2.

Another new product, called Fortenza, is a broad-spectrum insecticide containing Cyantraniliprole, which is used in seed treatment to prevent early crop pests such as leafhoppers and promote growth and yield. Syngenta suggests that Fortenza can be combined with other products to achieve full protection, and in combination with the Cruiser 60 mature control product, protection can be extended to the V2 phase. After that, if necessary, the Verdavis can be used continuously until the V8 stage.

Syngenta noted that corn leafhoppers, the main pest in northern Argentina, have been particularly severe this year and are spreading to the central region. Effective management of leaf hoppers is essential to ensure high yields and sustainable production. These two new products provide new options for integrated pest control and help to create synergies with existing measures.
