Kazakhstan and China Sign $75 Million Agricultural Cooperation Agreement

ECHEMI 2024-07-18

Kazakhstan's Minister of Agriculture Aidalbe Sapalov held a fruitful meeting with representatives from China CITIC Construction Group and Beijing Capital Agriculture Group to discuss prospects for deepening agricultural cooperation between the two countries. During the talks, the three sides reached important consensus on cooperation in the field of agriculture and signed an agreement on meat export and live livestock supply worth 75 million US dollars, marking a new stage in Kazakhmy-China agricultural cooperation.

During the talks, Minister Sapalov stressed that China, as an important agricultural trade partner of Kazakhstan, and the agricultural cooperation between the two countries have become increasingly close. He pointed out that in 2023, the trade volume of Kazakhstan-China agricultural products reached 1.3 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 67 percent over the previous year, which fully reflects the strong momentum of bilateral cooperation. In order to meet the growing demand of the Chinese market, Kazakhstan plans to further adjust and optimize the crop planting structure and vigorously develop the animal husbandry to produce more high-quality and green agricultural products.

Representatives of Chinese companies also expressed strong willingness to purchase Kazakh beef and live cattle. They said they look forward to deeper cooperation with Kazakhstan in meat processing, feed production and other fields to jointly enhance the added value of the industrial chain and promote Kazakhmy-China agricultural cooperation to a higher level. Such cooperation will not only bring new opportunities for agricultural trade between the two countries, but also inject new vitality into Kazakhstan's agricultural modernization and economic development.

The signing of the cooperation agreement is another milestone in deepening cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the field of agriculture, indicating that the two countries will have broader cooperation space in agricultural trade, investment and technical exchanges. With the deepening of cooperation, the two sides will jointly build a more stable and mutually beneficial agricultural cooperation relationship and set a new example for global agricultural development.
