China approved the registration of pea field's first herbicide product

2024-07-18

Recently, Anhui Jin Tu Di’s 16% of the Quizalofop-p-ethyl, Flumetsulam OD products were approved for registration.

The newly registered crops and control objects are annual weeds in pea fields. It is recommended to harvest the stalks 20 cm long or the tips of the tender stems for 5 to 7 days after pea emergence, and the weeds 2 to 5 leaf periods. 60 to 70 ml of formulation is used per mu, and 40 to 60 kg of water is added for directional stem and leaf spray application. This is the first pea field herbicide approved and registered in China. The original registered crops and control objects of this product are annual weeds in sweet potato field.

Peas are mainly used as grain and vegetables in China, and can also be used as forage grass and green manure, which is one of the important small grain and bean crops. In recent years, the problem of grass damage has seriously hindered the cultivation and popularization of peas. Herbicides have become one of the important technical measures to control weeds in farmland. However, no efficient and safe herbicide products targeting weeds in pea fields have been registered in China.

In addition, according to the researchers of Northwest A&F University, the comprehensive control effect of Acetochlor and Pendimethalin before seedling herbicide was better in Guanzhong area of Shaanxi province, while the comprehensive control effect of Quizalofop-p-ethyl and Clethodim after seedling herbicide was better. According to the researchers of the Crop Institute of Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, considering the effect and safety of weeding, the high efficiency of Haloxyfop-P, Bentazon, Quizalofop-p-ethyl and Flumetsulam are recommended for weed control in pea fields.
