AbbVie's Immunology Division Generates $12.342 Billion in Revenue in H1 2024, Humira Declines by 32%

ECHEMI 2024-07-29

Recently, AbbVie officially unveiled its financial report for the first half of 2024. The report noted that AbbVie's total revenue for the period reached $26.772 billion, a solid growth of 3.7% compared to the same period last year. In particular, its immunization portfolio generated net revenues of $6.971 billion worldwide, an increase of 2.3% year-over-year, demonstrating the company's strength and steady pace in this area.

It is worth noting that despite the overall performance, AbbVie's flagship Humira product did not perform as well in the first half of the year. The product's global net revenue was only $2.814 billion, down 29.8% from the same period last year, a figure that undoubtedly casts a shadow over the company's future growth. However, in the face of challenges, AbbVie did not stand still, and other key products such as Skyrizi and Rinvoq showed strong growth momentum, achieving revenue growth of 44.8% and 55.8% respectively, injecting new vitality into the company's performance growth.

In addition, AbbVie's oncology portfolio and neuroscience portfolio also achieved good results, achieving revenue growth of 10.5% and 14.7%, respectively. These achievements have further consolidated AbbVie's leading position in the global pharmaceutical market and laid a solid foundation for the company's continued development in the future.

Abbvie's overall performance in the first half of 2024 exceeded market expectations, with a strong performance in immunisation in particular generating significant revenue for the company. However, the problem of Humira's declining sales still needs to be taken seriously by the company and appropriate measures should be taken to solve it. In the future development, AbbVie needs to continue to play its innovation capabilities and market advantages to cope with the increasingly fierce market competition and changing market demands.
