$8.7 Billion Deal! AbbVie Completes Major Acquisition
Abbvie company on August 1, 2024 announced a major industry trends, has won regulatory approval across the globe, success with $8.7 billion purchased biotechnology company focused on neuroscience Cerevel Therapeutics. The deal marks AbbVie's second largest acquisition in 2023, behind its $10.1 billion acquisition of ADC maker ImmunoGen, and shows the company's ambitions in the pharmaceutical space.

According to data for the first half of 2024, these products brought AbbVie $4.127 billion in global net revenue, up 15.6% year over year, showing strong growth momentum.
Cerevel drug development pipeline is consists of a series for schizophrenia, epilepsy, Parkinson's and alzheimer's late candidate drugs, these drugs widely, is expected to be "$1" the potential of the product. The acquisition will significantly boost AbbVie's position in neuroscience, putting it in direct competition with BMS (Bristol-Myers Squibb), the pharmaceutical giant that recently acquired Karuna Therapeutics, in the schizophrenia market.
