PPG completes expansion of industrial coatings plant in Vietnam
PPG announced on August 26 that it has completed the upgrade of its industrial coatings plant in Yen Phong, Bac Ninh Province, Vietnam, and expanded its production capacity. The upgrade includes a new production line for PPG Aquarcron water-based decorative and functional coatings specifically for consumer electronics, as well as advanced testing equipment and automated paint booths.
The upgraded plant is currently equipped with six production lines designed to reduce turnaround time, speed up coating development and expand PPG's access to technical and customer support. This investment demonstrates PPG's commitment to the region and supports the growing demand for more sustainable products from a growing number of multinational consumer electronics brands operating in Southeast Asia.
“As a trusted supplier to the world’s leading consumer electronics OEMs, PPG is delivering next-generation solutions that not only enhance the durability, design and functionality of their products, but also help these industry partners reduce their carbon footprint by using virtually solvent-free coatings,” said Irene Tasi, PPG senior vice president, industrial coatings.
In addition to PPG Aquacron coatings, the plant produces PPG Spectracron liquid coatings for transportation applications, PPG Duranar coil and extrusion coatings for building and construction products, and Raycron UV-curable coatings for electronic materials.
“This investment represents another important step in our commitment to create innovative, sustainable products that protect and enhance communities around the world,” said Le Dong Lam, PPG general manager, Southeast Asia, industrial coatings and country manager, Vietnam.
Customers in the region can also take advantage of PPG’s Secure Launch Excellence program, which integrates new coating technologies and colors into customers’ production lines. The process ensures that new solutions work the first time they are applied, meeting customers’ exact specifications.
PPG’s commitment to developing sustainable advantage products is evident in its growing portfolio of waterborne, powder and energy-curable coatings. The company aims to achieve 50% of sales from sustainable advantage products by 2030.
