BASF Launches New Fungicide Belanty in Malaysian Market, 20 Trials Reveal Resistance Crisis, Rice Yields at Risk!

ECHEMI 2024-09-09

Recently, BASF, a leading global chemical company, launched a new fungicide called Belanty in the Malaysian market. The product contains the unique active ingredient cloflurazole and is designed to provide a highly effective control method for rice growers in Malaysia. The main use of Belanty fungicides is against two common diseases of rice cultivation - sheath blight and ear rot. These two diseases pose a great threat to the yield and quality of rice.

To further improve its effectiveness, BASF recommends combining Belanty with another fungicide, Seltima, whose active ingredient is pyrazoletin. Through this combination, Belanty can play a more excellent protective role, effectively preventing the occurrence of dry wilt and ear rot. This combined use scheme has been extensively field tested in several rice growing regions in Malaysia and has achieved remarkable results. The trials covered several regions including Perak, Selangor, Penang and Kedah, and more than 20 field validations were conducted.

The introduction of Belanty fungicide is of great significance. First, it is the first registered isopropanoltriazole fungicide in Malaysia, suitable for rice cultivation. The introduction of this product will not only help rice farmers maximize their yields and income, but also effectively address the problem of resistance in the use of traditional fungicides. The problem of drug resistance has always been a big problem in rice cultivation, and the introduction of Belanty provides a new idea and method to solve this problem.

BASF's commitment to support Malaysian rice growers has been reinforced once again. With the launch of Belanty fungicide, BASF is demonstrating its continued investment and innovation in the field of agricultural science and technology. The company is committed to providing advanced solutions for the global agriculture industry, helping farmers to meet various pest and disease challenges, thereby ensuring food security and sustainable development. The launch of Belanty is an important step for BASF in this field and will continue to contribute to the rice growing industry in Malaysia and globally in the future.
