Evonik Achieves Successful Trial Production at Shanghai Polyamide Plant
On November 3, 2025, global chemical company Evonik announced successful trial production at its Polyamide 2 reactor in Shanghai, doubling its long-chain polyamide production capacity in Asia. This milestone strengthens Evonik’s market leadership in high-performance polyamides.
High-performance polyamides are crucial for automotive lightweighting, electric vehicle thermal management, and premium consumer goods. The project focuses on increasing the local production of AABB-type polyamides and PEBA elastomers, meeting growing regional demand.
Evonik’s Asia-Pacific Senior Vice President Wu Xiaohong emphasized that the project demonstrates confidence in the Chinese market and enhances the company’s ability to serve domestic customers with high-performance materials, further solidifying Evonik’s role as a key partner in the automotive and consumer goods sectors.
