Evonik Launches Advanced Gas-Phase Alumina Plant in Japan
Evonik has officially started operations at its first advanced gas-phase alumina plant “Alu5” in Yokkaichi, Japan. The project, valued at tens of millions of euros, represents a strategic milestone in the company’s Asian expansion.
The plant will produce AEROXIDE gas-phase alumina solutions, designed for ultra-thin coating technologies and offering exceptional performance and versatility. The materials enhance electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and sustainable powder coatings, improving product longevity and application efficiency.
Evonik Asia-Pacific President Ray Tetsuki highlighted that local production shortens delivery times, reduces carbon footprint, and strengthens the company’s commitment to sustainable innovation and reliable regional supply.
