European Commission Announces Three Major Regulations

The European Commission published three regulations on 17 September 2024. First, Regulation (EU) 2024/2460 postpones the authorisation of metofluthrin in biocidal product type 18 until 30 April 2026, which comes into force on the twentieth day from the date of publication. Secondly, Regulation (EU) 2024/2441 extends the authorisation period of Enterococcus lactis DSM 22502 as an animal feed additive, which falls under the category of "technical additive" and functions as a "silage additive", until 7 October 2034. The regulations shall also take effect on the 20th day from the date of promulgation. Finally, Regulation (EU) 2024/2427 authorizes coriander essential oil as a feed additive for all animals in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which is classified as a "sensory additive" and functions as a "flavoring compound". The authorization period expires on October 7, 2034, and the regulations also take effect on the 20th day from the date of issuance.
