Today, PET polyester bottle flakes rebound strongly (12.19)

ECHEMI 2025-12-20

December 19th, news

On Friday, December 19, PET polyester bottle flakes staged a strong rebound, opening high and continuing to rise throughout the week. By the end of the week, driven by rising costs, prices showed a significant uptick. The average selling price for PET was 5,772 CNY per ton, while the main futures contract traded at 5,730 CNY per ton (+1.76%).

Cost side: Crude oil and PX prices remain strong, driving PTA prices higher. Factories have raised their quotes by 50–80 CNY/ton, and cost transmission is smooth.

Supply side: Mainstream facilities are stable, new facilities are undergoing trial runs, there is ample spot supply, and inventory pressure remains.

Demand side: The downstream market is primarily driven by rigid demand procurement, with a strong wait-and-see attitude and relatively cautious trading activity.

It is expected that, in the short term, prices will continue to fluctuate with a slight upward bias, trading within the range of 5,700–5,780 CNY/ton. Cost support remains intact, but easing supply and weak seasonal demand will cap price increases. Pay close attention to fluctuations in crude oil and PTA prices, as well as the pace of downstream procurement.
