Evonik launches flexible, environmentally friendly, healthy and safe epoxy curing agents
Evonik has added two new polyamide-based epoxy curing agents, Ancamide 2853 and Ancamide 2865, to its comprehensive curing agent portfolio for the Americas. Designed to set new standards in flexibility, strength and environmental safety, these new products are part of Evonik's commitment to providing innovative, high-performance solutions for the coatings industry.
Ancamide 2853 and Ancamide 2865 are highly flexible and can be used with standard diluted epoxy resins without the need for polyurethane modifiers. These curing agents also have high tensile and tear strengths and fast curing speeds, making them ideal for applications that require a quick return to service.
In addition, they are nonylphenol-free and use bio-based raw materials with a bio-content of 20-40%. This ingredient makes them safer and more environmentally friendly than typical flexible nonylphenol-containing epoxy curing agents that do not use bio-based raw materials.

“In addition to being well-suited for applications that require fast turnaround times, our customers find Ancamide 2853 and Ancamide 2865 to be very easy to use. Formulators can customize their products to the greatest extent possible by adjusting the mix ratio of Part A and Part B,” said Dr. Shiying Zheng, Regional Director of Application Technology for the Americas Civil Engineering Market Segment at Evonik Crosslinkers, whose team developed the products.
