noodles, boxed lunches, hamburgers, sandwiches, and pizzas. The low sugar labeling standard will also be extended to include Castilla cakes, cakes, muffins, pies, ice cream, ice milk, frozen juice, ice fruit, coffee (only products containing dairy products) and lactobacillus drinks.
The amendment aims to further regulate and guide low-salt and low-sugar foods on the market to meet consumers' demand for a healthy diet. At the same time, by expanding the scope of application, it can better cover all kinds of food and provide consumers with more comprehensive health choices.
For this revision, the Korean Food and Drug Safety Ministry also set a time for collecting opinions. All interested parties and the public have until October 10, 2024, to submit their comments and suggestions. This process will help ensure that the changes are scientific and sound, and that the final standard better serves public health.
Through this announcement, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety hopes to further promote the development of low-salt and low-sugar foods and provide consumers with more healthy and safe food choices. At the same time, it also reflects the South Korean government's active efforts and continuous attention to food safety and healthy eating.
