Mitsui Chemicals jointly develops packaging bags made from recycled flexible packaging film
Mitsui Chemicals TOPPAN and RM Tohcello have developed recycled BOPP film suitable for mass production. The two companies began providing samples of the film in October 2024.
The creation of this film sees printed film waste generated by TOPPAN get collected and taken to Mitsui Chemicals' Nagoya Works, where the ink is removed and the waste is made into pellets. These pellets are then made into film by RM Tohcello.
The recycled film has been tested in mass production at TOPPAN packaging facilities and found to be suitable for mass production processes such as printing, laminating and bag forming. The companies also evaluated the physical properties of the bag-like film and confirmed that it was suitable for use as packaging.
