Bayer's New Product Expected to Reach Peak Sales of €500 Million
At the 29th Brazilian Congress of Entomology (CBE 2024), Bayer officially launched its first ketoenol insecticide, Plenexos, marking an important breakthrough for the company in this field. The new product is expected to be on the market during the 2025-2026 crop season, and Bayer has expressed high expectations for its market potential and expects peak sales to reach 500 million euros.
Plenexos has a wide range of applications and can be applied to a variety of field and horticultural crops, including but not limited to soybeans, cotton, fruit trees and vegetables, to meet the needs of different growing scenarios. In addition, the product shows a high degree of flexibility and can be easily integrated into future product portfolios. Bayer is confident in its market prospects and expects peak sales potential of €500 million, making it an important choice for growers to protect their crops.
The Strategic Marketing Manager for Bayer Latin America noted that Plenexos' main goal is to provide efficient stinger pest management solutions for more than seven crops, including beans, citrus, melons, tomatoes and potatoes. As a green product, Plenexos is highly selective and ensures that pests are controlled without negatively affecting beneficial insects such as pollinators. Its excellent pest control capabilities and residual effects make Plenexos the preferred choice for growers. In addition, Plenexos has the potential to be combined with other active ingredients to provide a more comprehensive agricultural solution. At present, Plenexos is at a critical stage of protocol conduction with the scientific research chain.
In the field of insecticides, Bayer's ability to continuously innovate is also fully demonstrated. Another product, Curbix, has shown excellent results against stinging insects such as bedbugs, leafhoppers, cotton bollworms, coffee fruit beetles and grubs. Curbix, with its unique mechanism of action, is able to quickly combat pests and provide long-term protection. Since its launch, Curbix has far outperformed major market competitors in effectiveness, becoming the product of choice for controlling bedbugs in soybean crops. In addition, Bayer plans to launch Curbix Max to further expand its control range and add new capabilities against whiteflies to address the pest of greatest concern to farmers in the Cerrado region.
