U.S. EPA Issues New Regulations, Reducing Residual Limit for Cyprodinil in Palm Oil to 0.02 ppm
According to an update from the U.S. Federal Register, on November 4, 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued Regulation 2024-25564, which amends the residual limits of Mefenoxam in palm oil. This revision is based on a comprehensive risk assessment of metolaxyl toxicity, dietary exposure, and potential effects on infants and young children.
After an in-depth study and evaluation, EPA has concluded that the new residue limits are safe and has proposed the following revisions:
Product Name: Palm oil
New residue limit: 0.02 ppm (parts per million)
It is worth noting that Metalaxel has not been registered in the United States as of November 4, 2024. Therefore, the revised regulations will have an important impact on the residual limits of metalaxyl in palm oil.
According to the provisions, this regulation will come into force on 4 November 2024. Any person or organization that objects to this regulation or wishes to file a request for a hearing must submit the relevant documents to EPA by January 3, 2025. This deadline provides ample time for all stakeholders to express their views and concerns.
