L'Oréal sells Decléor and Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc to Cospal to streamline portfolio

L'Oréal has sold cosmetics brands Decléor and Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc to newly formed French group Cospal for an undisclosed sum. Cospal, led by Matthieu Lesieur, aims to revive these iconic brands and expand its presence in the beauty and wellness markets.

The acquisition marks a new chapter for Decléor and Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc. The former is a brand founded in the 1970s that focuses on aromatherapy, and the latter is a skincare cosmetics brand associated with the eponymous spa in the French Alps. Cospal president Lesieur has close ties to Decléor; his father acquired the brand in the 1980s before selling it to Shiseido. L'Oréal later acquired the brand in 2014 for €230 million.

The sale is in line with L'Oréal's strategy to streamline its brand portfolio and prioritize the development of its core cosmeceuticals products.
