India Imposes Duties on Acrylic Sheets from China! Rate is $0.18/kg

On December 26, 2024, the Ministry of Commerce of India announced in an announcement the affirmative final ruling on anti-dumping for acrylic sheets (Acrylic Solid Surfaces) originating from or imported from China. The announcement recommends imposing a five-year anti-dumping duty on the investigated products. The involved producers include Shandong Kelesi New Material Technology Co., Ltd and Shanghai Sailisi Industry Development Co., Ltd. Shandong Branch, both assigned a duty rate of 0, while other Chinese producers are assigned a rate of $0.18/kg.

The investigated products specifically include 100% acrylic solid surfaces, pure acrylic solid surfaces, Corian boards, Hi-Macs acrylic boards, Montelli acrylic boards made from PMMA, PMMA sheets, Staron acrylic solid surfaces, and Krion methyl methacrylate resin solid surfaces, with Indian customs codes 39205111, 39205119, 39205199, 39206390, 39219039, 39269069, and 35069999.

At the same time, the announcement clearly states that the following products are not included in the scope of duties: a) pure acrylic boards; b) acrylic laminated boards and PET/PVC films for furniture decoration and vehicle packaging; c) polyester solid surfaces; and d) modified acrylic solid surfaces.

Previously, on December 29, 2023, the Ministry of Commerce of India announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation on acrylic sheets originating from or imported from China, based on the application from the domestic company Stylam Industries Limited. The investigation period for dumping was from April 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, while the damage investigation period covered April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2020, April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021, April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, and April 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023.
