Lone Star Acquires RadiciGroup's Specialty Chemicals Business in Major Deal
On February 24, 2025, American private equity firm Lone Star announced that a subsidiary of Lone Star Fund XII, L.P. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the specialty chemicals and high-performance polymers business of RadiciGroup, a leading player in the global chemical industry.
Founded in 1941 and headquartered in Bergamo, Italy, RadiciGroup has established itself as a global leader in the nylon value chain. The company is known for its flexible business model and high level of specialization, serving customers in the automotive, industrial, electrical/electronic, and consumer goods markets across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
Lone Star will take over RadiciGroup's specialty chemicals and high-performance polymers operations, while the Radici family will retain control of the high-end textile solutions business.
Lone Star CEO Donald Quintin stated, "RadiciGroup has an excellent track record in innovation, quality, and customer commitment, making it a natural fit for the Lone Star portfolio. This acquisition is highly complementary to our specialty chemicals and manufacturing business and aligns with our strategy to invest in industry leaders with strong growth potential. We are excited to work with the RadiciGroup team to enhance our competitive position, drive operational excellence, and unlock new growth opportunities."
RadiciGroup President Angelo Radici and Vice President Maurizio Radici added, "We are proud of the growth RadiciGroup has achieved since its inception. The agreement with Lone Star marks a new chapter in the global expansion of our specialty chemicals and high-performance polymers business, which are highly synergistic. In a changing market environment, Lone Star's experience in the chemical sector, combined with its strategic resources and global expertise, will be key in supporting further business growth while ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional service to our customers. We will keep focusing on our high-end textile solutions business with an emphasis on innovation and sustainability."
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2025, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
