UP Govt Unveils 9.5 Crore Plan With 20 Institutions For Pharma Growth

ECHEMI 2025-04-11

The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced its first-ever standard operating procedure (SOP) for the pharmaceutical sector, aiming to strengthen drug manufacturing and clinical research. This initiative is designed to position the state as a global pharma hub by streamlining production and clinical trial processes.

As part of the plan, 20 medical institutions across the state have been onboarded to conduct clinical trials. These institutions will follow globally aligned protocols and receive specialised training to ensure adherence to the best practices. A budget of ₹9.5 crore has been allocated to create a robust ecosystem for pharmaceutical innovation and testing.

The strategy also includes hosting conferences with experts, standardising resources for pharmaceutical counselling, and conducting Good Clinical Practices (GCP) training for doctors and researchers in selected colleges. Partnerships with prominent institutions such as THSTI, AKTU, and BIRAC will further enhance the sector’s capabilities.

This landmark move is expected to unlock new opportunities and address challenges faced by the state’s pharma industry.
