3 Key Benefits of Avient’s New PVDF Additive You Need to Know Now
On May 27, 2025, Avient introduced its latest innovation: Colorant Chromatics™ PVDF Processing Additive, a breakthrough designed to enhance the melt processing of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) resins.
This high-performance additive delivers three major advantages for manufacturers: reduced die build-up, superior surface quality, and enhanced production efficiency. By improving lubrication during extrusion, it helps minimize imperfections like melt fractures, often referred to as sharkskin, and ensures a smoother, cleaner extrudate.
According to Felipe Reichert, Global Marketing Director for Colorants, Additives & Inks at Avient, “Our newest additive significantly improves PVDF processing by reducing friction at the die, resulting in cleaner runs and consistent product appearance.”
Ideal for use in wire and cable insulation, tubing, piping, and filament extrusion, the additive supports higher line speeds and lowers overall energy consumption. The product is now available worldwide, making it an attractive solution for manufacturers seeking to improve both quality and efficiency in PVDF extrusion processes.
