Glenmark’s ISB 2001 Achieves 79 Percent Response Rate in Multiple Myeloma Trial
Glenmark, in partnership with Ichnos Sciences, has announced promising results for its innovative trispecific antibody drug ISB 2001, designed to treat relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). The drug demonstrated an overall response rate (ORR) of 79% in a global Phase 1 trial, including patients unresponsive to advanced treatments like CAR-T cell therapy and bi-specific antibodies.
ISB 2001 works by engaging T-cells (vital immune cells) and targeting two specific sites on multiple myeloma cells: BCMA and CD38. Experts believe this unique mechanism could transform multiple myeloma treatment. Dr. Shyam Rathi of PD Hinduja Hospital stated, “This drug is a game changer for patients who quickly exhaust treatment options.”
The drug also showed a favourable safety profile, with no dose-limiting toxicities reported during the trial. Glenmark is in advanced licensing discussions with global pharmaceutical companies, which could significantly boost its position in the oncology market.
The global market for multiple myeloma treatments is projected to grow from $23.5 billion in 2023 to $33 billion by 2030, making ISB 2001 a critical addition to the cancer therapy landscape.
