Wanhua Chemical Partners with ElevenEs to Supply Key Battery Materials for European Expansion
June 5, 2025 – Wanhua Chemical has announced a landmark collaboration with European LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery manufacturer ElevenEs, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in May 2025. Under this agreement, Wanhua will supply LFP cathode materials, PVDF binders, and NMP (N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone) solvents, while also providing global supply chain support for ElevenEs’ production facility in Serbia.
This partnership signifies a major milestone for Wanhua, marking its independent entry into the European battery materials market. In contrast to its earlier collaboration with IBU-tec Advanced Materials in March 2025, this move highlights Wanhua’s growing self-sufficiency and ambition to establish a direct presence in Europe.
Wanhua emphasized that this agreement is a crucial step in its global strategy. The two companies also plan to expand their cooperation in areas such as electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
ElevenEs, meanwhile, has outlined an ambitious roadmap. The company aims to launch its first-phase 1GWh gigafactory by 2025-2026, with phased expansions to 8GWh annual capacity, followed by a second-phase project in Europe and North America. By 2031, ElevenEs expects to achieve a total capacity of 40GWh (20+20).
This partnership sets the stage for significant advancements in the European battery industry, driven by shared innovation and strategic growth.
