ECHEMI 2025-08-24

On August 19, 2025, Trinseo signed a major deal to establish a polycarbonate sustainable materials recycling project in the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone, with an initial investment of around $20 million and a first-phase annual output of 5,000 tons. The signing ceremony was attended by Zhangjiagang Party Secretary Han Wei and Trinseo’s top leadership, including CEO Frank Bozich, Global SVP Han Hendriks, and APAC President Yang Bing.

Trinseo, a global leader in material sciences, has been a pioneer in the Yangtze International Chemical Park since 1998, investing nearly $400 million and building its largest Asia-Pacific manufacturing base in Zhangjiagang. The company provides sustainable, innovative solutions for industries such as automotive, electronics, healthcare, and construction.

Zhangjiagang has attracted 169 major chemical new materials enterprises, including 26 from the Global Fortune 500, pushing the city’s chemical materials output to nearly 80 billion yuan. The new Trinseo project is expected to inject fresh momentum into Zhangjiagang’s ambitious goal of cultivating a 100-billion-yuan advanced materials industry cluster.
